They replaced it as a courtesy at the Apple Store even though it was out of warranty because there was a recall for the keyboard and battery which also got replaced. Now, it failed again. It is a MacBook Pro 2017. After some difficult moments, they agreed to take care of it again but now I am afraid that it can fail anytime again. Why do these logic boards fail so much? Is it a design problem? My laptop gets light use in air-conditioned environment. I agree with the other commenter, if it fails again I am moving to a desktop model. Or Windows.

My 2016 Mac Book Pro 15” would no longer charge the battery. Apple Genius said it would need a $685. logic board replacement. I took it to a repair shop with hopes of a board repair for $300. but after looking at it they wanted to order parts and if successful it would be $400. I have decided to move away from laptops since reliability seems to be more of an issue with thinner and thinner design. Additionally, the Thunderbolt USB-C connectors don’t seem robust.

What about the LED lights. What could be wrong at each step.
You offer no way for one to determine the problems and determine whether to drive 70 miles to get service.
